Abadina College University of Ibadan had a humble beginning; when a group of parents in an evening discussion thought it wise and necessary to establish a secondary school to accommodate their children in particular and other students that were to proceed to secondary school after graduation from the then Abadina Primary School 1 &3 (morning and afternoon in the present compound close to the Petrol Station in University of Ibadan) and Abadina Primary School 2 &4 (Presently, close- to the University of Ibadan research farm and the third gate close to Ajibode.)
This group of parents includes the Late Mr Oriola Omotayo, Mr. PS. Makam, Mrs Adeyinka. CO. (Head Mistress Abadina Primary School 2) Mr Akemu, Mr Afolabi (Head Masters Abadina Primary School 1). Late Mr Kassim and Late Prof. Segun Odunuga to mention but a few
The School operations kicked off from Abadina Primary School with four(4) classes and five (5) teachers including Mr Adeniran; the first principal of the school.
There were lots of issues in moving to the permanent site due to unforeseen circumstances, which led the management to move part of the school to a nearby CAC church before eventually moving to the permanent site after 4 years of establishing the school.
The School uniform initially was a brown and white check top over brown shorts for boys and a pinafore gown for girls. Later, it was changed to a white shirt for boys, white. blouse for girls and black shorts and skirts for girls, an initiative which was taken by the first set of prefects of the school to commemorate moving to the new and permanent site that is been used up to date.
Our great school did admit the first set of student in 1977 and since then the school have been a breeding ground for nurturing individuals who are professionals across different strata of the society. It is heartening to know that our great school has a humble beginning as a majority of the founding fathers/mothers did not have a university education but are seasoned native intellectuals that realised the potential of having a public secondary school in the University of Ibadan for posterity and not for their own immediate gain as at then.
Today the humble seed planted by the founding fathers is a success of alumni of the school in different fields of endeavor which is evidence of the success of the founding fathers and the SUCCESSFUL LIVING HISTORY OF ABADINA COLLEGE UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN
